the first portfolio I will share with you is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvNUyB5Abcs&feature=related  (John Scott Barmby).  The thing that really drew me to this portfolio was the was he presented it on you tube.  Next is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvNUyB5Abcs&feature=related (I don’t know the name of the artist because it is not in english) I like the wide aray of work.  Even though it is not an american designer it is still able to speak through graphics.  Finally, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtUTXSPQhuM&feature=related  even though it is a short video it still shows a lot of design.  It also keeps with one main theme and expresses it in various ways.

Zines! November 25, 2008

I had a little diffucilty finding web zines, but once I found some I found them very useful and thought most of them were full of a lot of good information.  The first one I want to share is www.gdusa.com  which stands for Graphic Design USA.  This is one of the web zines that was not in great detail but it was a great overview for a quick look into the current graphic design world.  The next one I will share is www.cmykmag.com .  This website is a bit overwhelming but when I navigate through it I found some great information.  Finally, the last one I found was www.emptymag.com.  I chose this one because it is a different style than what I usually gravitate.

Here are a couple of websites that I find helpful…

www.theinspirationroom.com : This web site is great…it is not only for graphic designers but almost any type of designer you can think of.  This website is full of many many types of inspiration.

www.photoshoptv.com : A great place to learn even more about photoshop.  It seams as soon as we learn a version of photoshop a new version is released.  You can get tips and shortcuts along with hearing from photoshop leading designers.

3 Designers that Inspire Me! November 5, 2008

Here are three more designers that I am inspired by:

Christopher Herbinet – www.christophreherbinet.com : I was drawn to the way he merges objects.  It generates interest and on some pieces of work I found myself studing the images longer wondering about certain parts of the images

Shadrach Lindo – www.shadrachlindo.com : What I like most about this designer is each work is uniqe from the next.  There are many of overlapping colors but it does not create confusion.

Intraligi – www.intraligi.com : Wow! Color Color Color!  What i like here is he is def. not afraid of any color. Also, he does not descriminate on where he will use color.

5 Designers Inspire Me November 5, 2008

OK, so not only 5 designers inspire me…listed below are a few designers that I am inspired by.

Jacob Cass – www.justcreativedesign.com :  his logos are simple, but other works (print designs) tend to be very busy.  He does very well with making these print designs work very well…he has good use of color and balance.

Max Losk – www. maxlosk.com :  The first thing that caught my eye was his home page.  I love the lay out.  I has interest but is still very cohesive.  I also love his painting style

Kristen Beckens – www.kristen.being-sophisticated.com :  My favorite thing would have to be her photos.  Since the website is not in english I am taking a guess but I believe she has some photos and layouts from possibly a fashion shoot.  I love the scenes and they way she has worked with them.

Casey Coyle – www.caseycoyle.com : Her scope of work seems very clean and simple but still utilizes great color and style.  There is something very organic about her style.

Peter Loving – www.peterloving.com : He is a very out of the box thinker.  He has some unique product design.  I also notice a lot of curves and circles in many of his works.

Why is web design important to my design career? October 13, 2008

When I enrolled for this class I was not at all excited.  I know many of people who like to create and design websites, but I am not one of them.  I previously took a class that was html based and did not enjoy it.  I found it very tedious and there didn’t seem to be enough creativity for me.  I felt like there were general standard that most web sites follow and I should stick with those, taking out much of the creativity.  I know web design is important to my career for many of reasons.  One being that it can be a tool to reach many of people very effectivly and vastly for relativly cheap.  It’s also a way to share your work, business and expiernce with others; I know I often check out someones website before getting to involved with anything.  It can tell a lot.  I also feel like it can generate business..depending on the set up of the website you may even make contacts strictly through the site.
